Former Jubo League leader Ismail Hossain Chowdhury Samrat on Thursday returned to jail after staying around one year in hospital.

Samrat, the alleged kingpin of the illegal casino business in the capital, was taken back to Dhaka’s Keraniganj Central Jail from Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) Hospital around 12:00noon.

Mahbubul Islam, Jailer of the Central Jail, confirmed this information to media this noon.

Following the anti-casino operation, RAB arrested Ismail Hossain Chowdhury Samrat along with his associate Arman from Cumilla on October 6 last year.

Several cases were filed against Samrat after he was arrested last year.
